Australia’s Coach Justin Langer strategy on Steve Smith and David Warner’s Comeback

India vs Australia series started with three-match T20I series that ended in a draw 1-1. Now the series will witness the four-match test series which will be starting from December 6 in Adelaide.

Many cricket experts have an opinion that this time India side is stronger because of the absence of Australia’s star players- Steve Smith and David Warner. Cameron Bancroft is also serving the 9 months suspension.

Steve and David were suspended from state and international cricket for a year over for their involvement in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa. Australian coach Justin Langer believes that the process of the comeback for the trio needs to be dealt very carefully. 

Steve Smith had breakfast with Langer while Warner met the coach before Australia’s tour of UAE. Recently Cricket Australia refused to reduce bans on the trio after being given a push by Australian Cricketers Association.

Australian Coach Justin Langer said that there is going to be a process for the boys to come back and it is really important that they start working on that process from now. Langer said,

"We can't get to the point and just say 'right they're back'. It's not fair on them, it's not fair on the team, it's not fair on everyone."

The coach said, “It's nice to have Davey in and Steve had a hit yesterday, I had breakfast with him on Monday morning and I caught up with Davey for a couple of hours that afternoon as well. I didn't deliberately catch up with them separately. I caught up with Davey in Brisbane before we went to the UAE because I wanted to see him face to face. It's one thing exchanging text messages and emails, you have to talk face to face. We had a great catch-up.”

He feels that they have been through a tough 12 months and they have been penalized for making a really big mistake and he has no doubt about that but they have got to get them into the group. He also told that he will speak to Cameron Bancroft.

Justin Langer said, "If you think about the ACA and CA, the public and the team, the media and the team, it's a bit disjointed at the moment, the more we can bring it back, the more harmony you get the happier environment for everyone. That includes the boys."
